Lovely Lace

Grand Rapids Wedding Planner

I met Whitney back in December of 2012. She was looking for someone to design and construct her flower girl dresses and, like many people, asked her Facebook friends for suggestions. A mutual Facebook friend mentioned my name (thanks Jen!) and I was given the lovely pleasure of working with Whitney. When we first met at Field’s Fabrics, she described her wedding, and like most wedding planners, I was in love already. An outdoor ceremony in a wooded amphitheater behind her mom’s house? Yes! A clear tent on the lakeshore with fairy lights twinkling in the night? Yes yes yes! Fortunately, I have some self control and I was able to focus on her flower girl dresses. Lace, sheer sleeves, and ribbon closures make for one amazing dress for a 2 year old, or in this case, two 2 year olds. Whitney was a dream to work with, telling me what she wanted and then giving me the creative freedom to do the rest.

After Whitney and Marc’s wedding on September 7, 2013, I eagerly and impatiently (I was just too excited) waited for pictures. It was so stunning and beautiful, rain and all. The both looked amazing and so happy and I was honored to have my little part in their big day. Whitney and Marc, may you have all the love and happiness in the world.

Take A Bough

This Christmas season, my mom and I dragged in our massive Christmas tree from outside and in the process, we lost a few branches. Instead of throwing them away, I decided to take the 4 branches and multiply them into enough boughs to cover our entire house (and presents) in fresh, lovely smelling pine. Below, you will see the simple directions to make boughs that you can hang anywhere from your front door to the back of chairs, and many places in between.

1. Select your branches: I chose 3 different types of evergreens for a total of 8 branches.

2. Arrange your branches: I chose the biggest branch and placed the smaller branches on top of it, trimming away excess.

3. Wrap your branches: I wrapped the ends of the branches where they are gathered together with florist wire and then florist tape. Wrap enough of both so that the branches are secure.

4. Tie a bow: I chose to wrap a red satin ribbon around the ends, but you can use anything you want.

5. Place your bough: Depending on the size of your bough, you can hang it on your front door, on the back of chairs, on the wall, on Christmas presents.

Evan and Melissa

September 2, 2013

A wedding on a Sunday afternoon, in my mind, is such a lovely time to get married, especially if it’s in Autumn. Melissa and Evan were such a sweet couple and I was so happy to be able to help them on their wedding day. Melissa looked absolutely timeless in a long lace dress, and the mix of garden flowers with navy was oh so very classy. The wedding was just beautiful. Congratulations Even and Melissa. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of such a special day.
