My 2015 Wedding Season

My 2015 wedding season has come to a close with a wedding style photo shoot to cap off the year (a sneak peek will soon follow). After a week of cleaning, organizing and returning rentals, my life and my work space finally feels back to normal and not a haphazard mess of buckets, ribbons and boxes.

You may have noticed that there haven’t been a lot of wedding blog posts from this summer. That’s at the top of my to do list once I receive the photos from all the photographers. Believe me, I’m dying to see the photos and I so am eager to blog about each wedding I was honored to be a part of.

Until then, here are a few photos I took (or my team took) during this past season.

Ross and Erin

Erin and Ross are some of the sweetest and kindest people ever. I know, I know. I probably say this about all of my couples. But seriously, these two are wonderful. They are some of the most welcoming and warm people that I have had a chance to work with; which isn’t surprising once you meet their families. Having grown up with Erin (we attended the same church for many years), it was such an honor to be able to help her and Ross with their wedding. A classy color palette was used to set the stage for flawlessly mixing modern pattens with slightly vintage details. Add in a stellar pair of shoes (seriously, they are amazing!), a donut dessert table, and potted succulent favors (they live in Arizona) and you have a wonderful wedding. I couldn’t think of a better way to start my wedding season than spending it with these two. All my love to you both as you start this new journey together.

The Wizard of Oz Manor

A few weeks ago I went to tour the lovely The Wizard of Oz Manor. I was informed by Kim, the event director, that it is believed that the Wizard of Oz was conceived and written here. The manor is located right on Lake Macatawa, with a view just as stunning as the actual home. Inside, it’s like you stepped back in time to old world New England. No really, it is.

In April, I get to direct and design a style shoot here and I am so excited to see everything come together within the space. I am working with some amazing people to create a masculine, New England style shoot with a hint of nautical glamour. Add in one awesome custom designed invitation suite, an amazing seafood menu, sweet treats, gorgeous linens, vintage china, a cigar bar (yes, I said cigar bar), and a lot more pretty details… April can’t get here fast enough.

Galentines Day Brunch

“What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus, frittatas!” Leslie Knope

I am a sucker for hearts. And Pink. Every year, right around February, my overall fondness for hearts and the color pink turns into an all out love. It’s rather silly actually. I have to refrain myself from buying everything that has a heart on it or is pink, and don’t even get me started on hearts that are pink. Thankfully, I have a few friends that share this love, so it means that I can shower them in all things pink and hearts (while fulfilling my need to be surrounded by this girly color and non-anatomically correct organ). Hence, my Galentines Day brunch. After all, there’s nothing better than celebrating Valentines Day with your best friends.
