A Mini Photoshoot

I was told I needed more pictures of myself. Apparently, I duck and hide from the camera at events so any pictures with me in them are of my feet as I’m running away. Thus, my website designer told me to stage a mini photo shoot where, unfortunately for me, I was the main subject. Since I am in the process of starting my event rental company, I decided to use some of my vintage items in hopes to distract the viewer from my awkward smile. I convinced my friend Andrew to come over and take pictures (and move all my props down 2 flights of stairs and across the lawn). Hopefully, now that I have these pictures, I can go back to hiding from the camera.

Elizabeth and Luke

7.21.2012

Luke and Elizabeth are some of the warmest and kindest people I know. I have grown up with Elizabeth, attending the same Sunday school, youth groups, and even the same Alma Matter (Calvin College).  Almost two years ago, Elizabeth moved to Spain to be a missionary and that is where she met and fell in love with Luke. Since they both lived in Europe and were extremely busy with work, planning a wedding all the way back in the United States was challenging, but they did an amazing job. Both Elizabeth and Luke made their wedding special and memorable by adding touches of Spanish influence. Elizabeth wore a gorgeous gown that she found in Spain, Luke wore a Spanish-inspired Tuxedo, and the favors were Spanish lollipops. Each detail of their wedding was thoughtfully designed and it was truly a joy to be a part of this wedding.

A beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple. Congratulations Luke and Elizabeth.

Mike and Jenna, engaged

It is always a memorable and happy day when I receive a phone call from someone I know with news of their engagement. It is an especially memorable day when that someone is your brother in law. Words cannot express my love and joy for Mike and Jenna and their engagement. While I am sad that I will not be around for all the festivities and planning, I am truly looking forward to traveling to Alberta for their lovely summer wedding. Below are a few of their fantastic engagement pictures that Mike’s mother took.

McKay Tower Ballroom

Grand Rapids Wedding Planner

Grand Rapids is working hard to keep the world of weddings full of new and exciting surprises. Thanks to Steadfast Property Holdings, there is a ballroom coming to Grand Rapids. Located at the heart of Downtown Grand Rapids, The McKay Tower, home to some of the city’s finest condos, is hoping to turn the second floor, which is a former bank lobby, into a ballroom.

“We hope that this project is viewed as a welcome addition to the city in that a vacant grand space will be returned to use for the enjoyment of the public…” –Grand Rapids Business Journal.

Look for this project to be completed by Spring 2013 if the city commissioners approve of it on November 27.

Love, Multiplied

I value each client and the relationship I have with them, but it is truly special when a client becomes a dear friend. Tara and Jimmy were married a little over a year ago and I had the privilege of helping them plan their beautiful wedding.

Through the planning process, Tara and I became good friends, and after her wedding, we would catch up every month or so over a cup of tea and a sweet treat. Thus, you can imagine my happiness when, one morning, she told me she was pregnant. While I couldn’t attend her baby shower as I was out of the country on holiday, her and I were able to celebrate, just the two of us. When I received her text message on Monday, October 15, with the picture of little baby Stella, my love for the Lis family multiplied. Welcome baby Stella.
