Emily and William

May 4, 2013

There really isn’t anything better than kicking off the wedding season with a wedding in May, on a breezy, spring day, hanging out with a fun loving couple. The day was perfect in Grand Rapids. The air was warm, the sun was shining, and the sky was scattered with fluffy clouds. This was the kind of day in May that I live for and add a wedding to the mix = happy. I loved this wedding and I especially loved Emily’s gorgeous wedding dress with the lace bodice and trumpet skirt. The fun pop of yellow with the stylish gray was executed flawlessly in all of Emily’s designs and details.

Monday Morning Musings

Grand Rapids Wedding Planner

Today is one of those days. A day where you feel like you have so much to blog about and talk about but when you actually sit down at the computer, nothing. Less than nothing. I think I have typed and deleted one sentence over 10 times. The saddest part about that was the first sentence was one word. {Sigh}

Thankfully, it’s a Monday which means after I get some emails sent and my office tidied up, I get to make a trip to the flower wholesaler, receive a lovely floral arrangement from Quite Contrary, and spend the evening with the best friend and her charming but squeaky baby.

Adam & Rachel: Ringing In The New Year

December 31, 2012

This wedding was from a few months ago. Okay, this wedding was from 5 months ago, but I still wanted to blog about it. Rachel and Adam are such warm and lovely people and I absolutely love both of their families. I have always adored the idea of a New Years Eve wedding so when Rachel told me her ideas for the wedding, I swooned. After all, what’s not to love about bold colors like silver and gold paired with chic black, glitter and sparkle mixed with rustic charm, all coming together in a vintage travel theme? Add a fantastic couple, a gorgeous candlelit event, and a much anticipated ball drop and you have one extraordinary New Years Eve Wedding.

I was so honored to be a part of this wedding. It was a great way to close the doors on 2012 and welcome in 2013. Cheers!

Bring May Flowers

I am quite certain that last month’s April showers did indeed bring May flowers.

While I am not convinced we needed quite so much rain to achieve the lovely May flowers that have literally sprung up overnight, especially since many people have been displaced by the floods, I am thankful that out of the chaos, beauty grew. Side note: I was reading in the Grand Rapids Press about a little girl who gave her piggy bank money to those who assisted with the flooding. So sweet.

Growing up, May was my favorite month of the year. It probably had something to do with twirling around in pretty floral dresses and prancing around in shoes with big bows on them. May was also the month that my mom and I would walk around the gardens and point out all the new buds peaking out from the ground. This seems fitting since May is the month we celebrate Mother’s Day and luckily for me, there have been many birthdays of mine where I have shared the day with my mom.

Just yesterday, my mom and I were talking about flowers and she mentioned that all she wanted for Mother’s Day was a bouquet of lilacs from the garden at my house. I promise, my entire family is obsessed with flowers and this is clearly where I get it from. Growing up, my job would be gardening beside my dad, elbow-deep in dirt while my mom was off planting more bulbs in another part of the garden. Needless to say, our house was always full of flowers. Hence my mother requesting a lilac bouquet, a bush that she has a hard time growing with the wildlife and lack of sun at their house.

Fortunately for her, I will be bringing the flowers as well as a pretty container too.
